AMEX Tokenization Errors w/ PayPal

When running the FAR680 the following error message appears on some transactions (specifically AMEX)

New Request Submitted. Received response from VERISIGN. Transaction Response Code : Invalid account number: 10535-This transaction cannot be processed. Please enter a valid credit card number and type

Error Code: 23

After submitting a ticket to PayPal, they recommended the following troubleshooting steps.

  1. Please log into your PayPal account.
  2. Once there, please navigate to your Payment Receiving Preferences in your PayPal account https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/customerprofileweb?cmd=%5fprofile%2dpref&rc2_eligible=yes and once there, ensure that you have the "Account Updater" toggled to the on position.
  3. Once updated, please reattempt your reference transactions for the AMEX cards and advise of the results.
