Constituent Aliases

The Alias section of the Individual Name Edit and Company Name Edit screens lets users define search name aliases.  This standard feature involves professional and married names and deals with companies that change their names or use acronyms.  To retrieve the record using an acronym, users need to add it as an alias for the customer.

The following aliases are available in Personify:

  • Variation of Spelling - Used to indicate when there is a variation of spelling within the name of the individual or company name.  This is frequently used for companies and practices within Personify. For example, First and 1st; or Saint, St., Ste., etc.
  • Acronym: Used to search for constituents by an acronym. This is frequently used for company records within the database. For example, AOA (American Optometric Association)
  • Affiliate ID: Used to search for constituents by an Affiliate ID number. This is primarily used for Personify to identify a record with both an AOA ID number and an affiliate ID number.
  • Former/Maiden Name: Used to search for constituents by a former/maiden name. This is primarily used for both companies who have undergone a name change, and individuals who have changed their name legally.
  • Nickname: Used to distinguish a second nickname for an individual or company record in Personify.
