Defining Shipping Charges by Weight

Personify determines the weight by adding the total weight of all products in the order and prorates this amount for each line item based upon the weight of the individual product.  See an example below.  The three lines show their weight.  The weight it totaled and multiplied by the price per pound.  The total shipping ($30.00) is then prorated between three lines based upon weight.

From the screen task category Define Shipping Charges, click on the screen task Simple by Weight.

1.    In the Define Simple Charges by Weight section, click on the Add button.

2.    Update the Charge Detail information.

a.    Select a Begin Date if needed.  The begin date will default to today.

b.    Update the Base Ship Amount.  This is the minimum shipping amount that will be charged regardless of product weight per order.  For example, if an order has 3 line items and two being shipped Via FedEx and the third being shipped via UPS, then the base ship amount for the FedEx is split between the two lines AND the Base Ship Amount for UPS will be applied to the third line.

c.    Enter the Amount Charged per Unit Weight.  This is the amount of money charged to ever order per weight unit.

d.    Update the End Date as needed.

3.    Save  any changes made to the shipping method.
