System Level Shipping
The Shipping Charges
Maintenance screen (ORD009) allows the user to define global shipping charges
for the inventory subsystem. These are based upon the following calculation
methods.

Simple by Weight –
charges a flat rate per order in addition to some amount based upon the weight
of a product.
Simple by Price –
charges and optional flat amount per order plus some amount based upon the
price of the product. The Simple by Price shipping charges are based on the
list price alone for the shipping of one unit.
Flat Rate – charges a
specific amount per order as a shipping charge.
By Schedule by Weight –
charges a flat amount or percentage per order with charges based upon a pricing
range of the product.
By Schedule by Price –
charge a flat amount or percentage plus some amount based upon the weight range
of the product.
The calculation process is
defined by the product-shipping table and based upon the calculation code. If
a base amount is added, it is added to the shipping cost. For example, if the
organization charges a base of $2 for all UPS shipments and the shipping for
one item is $5, the total shipping will be $7. Individual products can also
have added shipping costs. An instance if an item is unusually large or
fragile, an additional fee can be tied into to shipping to cover incidentals.
Shipping Methods can be setup
on the same shipping company. For example, if you ship product A via FedEx by
weight, you can ship Product B via FedEx via flat rate. The product setup
determines the method.
Depending on the shipping
alternatives offered to the consumer determines how shipping companies are
setup. A shipping company may be setup 4 times due to the alternate shipping
methods offered. For example, see the chart below.
