Warehousing for Inventory Products

Warehousing for Inventory Products

All products defined as inventory require a holding location.  A warehouse must exist before inventory can be received or processed within Personify.  A single product can be stored in multiple warehouses and in multiple locations within a warehouse.  When inventory is received for a product, it is received into a specific warehouse and bin or shelf.  When shipping occurs, the inventory numbers are reduced from the warehouse from which they were shipped.

Warehouses also have a priority within a product.  The warehouse with the lowest number priority greater than 0 will be the one used for fulfillment as long as there is inventory capable of fulfilling the order.  A warehouse with a priority 0 is considered a storage warehouse only and no orders are fulfilled form that warehouse.

Products that are not inventoried (such as custom print material, which is produced only when ordered) are not required to have a warehouse.  However, associating these products with a warehouse will then generate a packing slip.  A warehouse does not need to be a physical shipping location/room.  It also can be a “Print Center” or “New Member Fulfillment Center” which may be someone’s office or desk.
