Creating an Inventory Product Overview

Creating an Inventory Product

Products are typically defined as items that are normally inventoried and that must go through a shipping and invoicing process.  The product can include items such as books, shirts, mugs, CDs, and other intellectual property.

To create an inventory product the following steps need to be completed

-          Define the general product (either individual or standing order0

-          Define the rates and pricing

-          Define the GL accounts

-          Define the revenue accounts

-          Define the shipping charges

-          Define the cancellation fees (if needed)

-          Define the components (if needed)

-          Define the inventory location (only for individual products)

-          Defining the product images

Once all pieces have been put together, the product is then validated and the product is ready for review or maintenance if needed.

Note:  If users wish to create an inventoried product similar to the one you already created, use the Copy Inventoried Product functionality.  This will allow the user to copy specific parts of a product’s setup over to a new product instead of re-entering the same information making the product entry process much more efficient.
