Rates and Pricing

Rates and Pricing

The rate code details section is used to create rate structures and codes upon which product prices are based.  Rate structures are typically used to segment customers into logical buying groups such as members and non-members.  The pricing detail is then used to associate rates within the structure created.

From Product Central either search or create a new inventoried product.  Under the Product Definition screen task category, click the Define Rates and Pricing screen task.  The Product Maintenance | Rates and Pricing screen will appear.

1.    From the Rate code Details area, click on the Add button to add a rate.  Select the following components of the rate.

a.    Rate Structure:  Drop down menu provides a structure that defines a constituent.  Certain constituents such as members vs. non-members receive special rates.  Every product must have a rate structure as “List”.

b.    Rate Code & Description:  Drop down menu provides a rate code based upon the selected rate structure.

c.    Ship Via:  Drop down allows the rate to override the organization unit default of how the product is to be shipped.

d.    Default Rate:  Check box indicates that the rate should be default within that rate structure.  When creating an order, this rate code defaults for the order.  For example, when showing member savings setting the membership rate as the default rate to be shown.

e.    Web Enabled Rate:  Checkbox indicates that the rate is available for use through the Web.

f.     Default Web Rate:  Checkbox indicates that the rate is the default rate for the web.

g.    Waive Shipping:  Checkbox indicates that shipping will be waived for this rate structure/rate code on this product.

2.    Update the Pricing Detail for the rate by clicking on the Add button.  Then update the needed fields.

a.    Price:  Update with the price charged for the product prior to any discounts.

b.    Valid From & Valid Thru:  The pricing setup beings on the Valid From date.  By default, it is equal to today.  The Valid Thru date indicates when the late date the price would be available for the product.

c.    Show as Web Sale Price:  If you want to display a strikethrough pricing on the web, you must check mark this box.

d.    Strikethrough Price:  The price to be shown during sales and promotions and is struck through.

List Price:  $50.00

Sale:  $35.00

e.    Show Price End Date on Web:  If you checked, the Valid Thru date will display on the web.

3.    Repeat these steps to add all the rates and pricing needed.  Once complete, save  any changes made.
