Shipping Charges

Shipping Charges

To calculate shipping charges for inventory products where weight is not an issue, shipping surcharges can be defined and assessed for a line item.  Shipping surcharge calculates or shipping charge overrides are defined here for each Ship-Via method.  Surcharges defined here will be added to any other shipping charges; overrides will override any other shipping charges.

Users can also specify the shipping calculation method here as well.  This is calculated either by weight, percentage of price, schedule, or by flat rate.  If needed users can assign an override amount that will explicitly define a shipping price outside of any other calculation.

If no shipping charges are defined via the Product Setup, then the default shipping charges setup on the Shipping Charges Maintenance will be applied.

From Product Central either search or create a new inventoried product.  Under the Product Definition screen task category, click the Define Shipping Charges screen task.  The Product Maintenance | Shipping Charges screen will appear.

1.    Click on the Add button in the Shipping Charges and Overrides section.

2.    Update the Shipping Charge Details section with the following information.

a.    Ship-Via:  Drop down defines the name of the entity that will be shipping the order or line.

b.    Calculation Method:  Drop down defines how the Ship-Via selection will calculate the shipping charge.

                                          i.    By Price:  Based upon the record setup in Shipping Charge Maintenance for the correct country code and date range if there is a base amount, add this to the charges and add the percentage by price calculated amount.

ii.    By Schedule:  Based upon the records setup in Shipping Charge Maintenance that define a base amount to which a flat amount for max and minimum pricing or percentage of the price between some max and minimum is added.  The shipping schedule can also be setup for the max or minimum of weight.

iii.    By Weight:  Based upon a set of records setup on the Shipping Charge Maintenance screen where user defines a base amount of which some amount per unit weight will be added.

iv.    Flat Rate:  Depends on a record setup on the Shipping Charge Maintenance  screen for the country and ship via for a current date range, it adds some flat amount for that specific product.

                                        v.    Override:  Excludes the line item from any further shipping calculation.  Whatever is stored with the product overrides and will be the only shipping charged for the line.

3.    Update the Shipping Charge Details with the following information.

a.    Shipping Surcharge:  Amount of shipping that will be charged for this product in addition to the default-shipping amount.

b.    Shipping Override:  The override amount only relates to this product.  If a product must have special shipping, enter its value here.  Otherwise, the shipping amount will default to the standard.

c.    Being Date:  Drop down to indicate the date of when the fee will be charged.

d.    End Date:  Drop down to indicate the end date of this rate.

4.    Use the Calculate Actual Shipping Calculate button to verify the shipping of one item.

5.    Save  any changes to the Shipping Charges needed.
