Committees, like customers, can have relationships within the Personify database. This information can be valuable when your organization's committee structure is segmented into divisions, programs, or specialized business areas.
Note: If the parent committee already exists within the database, you can use the "Create a Subcommittee" screen task to quickly create a new committee in Personify. This is different than creating a committee relationships. A true subcommittee shares the ID number of the committee, however the subcustomer ID is incremental by 1. For example, if the parent committee ID Number is 10000001-0, then the Subcommittee ID will be 10000001-1.

To create a new relationship for the parent to an existing committee
- Ensure you have the Parent committee record open. Click the View All Relationships screen task from the Relationships screen task category. The Committee Relationships section will appear on the Demographics tab of the Committee Central screen.
- Click the Add button to add a new row to the relationship data grid. Alternatively, click the Delete button to remove the selected relationship row from the data grid.
- Using the Relationship Detail section of the screen update the "This Customer" section first.
- Select 'Committee' from the Relationship Type drop-down menu.
- Select 'Parent' from the Role drop-down menu.

- When adding the data for the “Is Related to This Customer” section, AOA recommends you copy or have handy the ID number of the committee you wish to create a relationship to. This will make searching for the committee easier. Click the Related Customer hyperlink to open the Choose Customer search window.

- Using the search parameters, Search for the committee you wish to relate to.If only one records is found, the Choose Customer screen will close automatically.

- Update the following fields in the “Is Related to This Customer” section of the relationships screen.
- Confirm that ‘Subcommittee’ is selected in the Is Related as drop-down menu.
- Update the Begin Date as date, the relationship between the two committees began.
- If applicable, add the End Date as the date the relationship between the two committees will end.
- Use the Save button to save your changes made to the Committee Relationships.
